We love to see our favorite K-Pop idols perform on stage, but sometimes our idols face danger while up on stage under unreasonable conditions. Whether it be for the weather conditions, the stage technicalities, health issues or more, our idols face the burden of having to stand up on stage with a smile on their faces even while the safety of the performance is not guaranteed. We give mad props for them putting on their professional faces no matter the situation, but we would still rather see our idols in their best conditions. Check out this week’s 10 Things, covering the K-Pop idol girls who faced some dangerous stage incidents!
Baby VOX We start with the 1st generation K-Pop idols. Baby VOX’s dangerous stage incident is legendary. The girls were posed on a turning floor, but the floor had turned much too quickly than planned. The girls all collapsed on the floor as they lost their balance, and the epic entrance scene turned out to be an epic blooper scene.
SISTAR’s BoRa SISTAR’s BoRa made the headlines during their debut promotions for “Push Push”. During one of their performances, she had slipped, while wearing high heels and landed on her mic. She tried to bravely get up and continue, but the pain was too much. The performance was stopped to make sure that BoRa was ok.
SISTAR’s SoYou Although there weren’t any injuries, SISTAR made headlines again years later for their performance of “Shake It”. The girls were performing their hit song, but the stage was way too slippery to not be a safety hazard. SoYou almost slipped and fell, but thanks to her toned training, she kept on her feet. The slippery state of the stage was even more apparent while they were walking off the stage!
Red Velvet’s Joy Red Velvet’s Joy had fainted during a performance for their song, “Happiness”. The poor girl was probably under-nourished and tired out of her mind. When the smokes blew, she grabbed her head and collapsed mid-performance. But as the professional that she is, she got straight back up. It took her a few moments to regain her consciousness, but she insisted the performance continue… We would rather you take care of yourself, Joy!
Stellar’s JeonYul Talk about risque! We know Stellar is known for their overly sexy appeals, but this accident was no publicity stunt. During their performance, JeonYul’s clear strap came off from her shirt. Though it didn’t cause immediate danger, with such risky dance moves, a wardrobe malfunction was inevitable if she wasn’t careful!
APink’s BoMi APink’s BoMi was in a similar situation to JeonYul, where during her performance her ring got caught on her front ribbon. Unable to unhinge it, she had to continue on with her hand clutched to her chest. If she hadn’t noticed and waved her hand up and over her head, her shirt would have surely ripped!
SNSD’s TaeYeon It may have been about a decade ago, but it’s an incident that we can’t forget about. During their debut promotions, SNSD had performed their song “Into the New World”. TaeYeon’s health was at a terribly low point. She struggled all throughout the performance and fans could even see her tears while she was singing.
Girl’s Day’s HyeRi Girl’s Day’s HyeRi caused a great scare during their “Something” performance. The idol had pulled through to the end of the performance, but it was clear to the fans that HyeRi was definitely not feeling well. News reports sited that HyeRi had collapsed as soon as the stage was over. The members had rushed to her side, and their manager had to carry HyeRi off the stage on his back.
Rainbow’s HyunYoung Another slippery slope incident. HyunYoung of Rainbow had tripped over her super high heels during their debut promotions for “Gossip Girl”. The idol had stumbled for a good 10 feet before gaining her balance again. Her part was coming up next, but HyunYoung grabbed the mic and kept on going as the pro that she is.
f(x)’s Krystal One of the most legendary stage incidents of the current generation of idols, Krystal had fainted during mid-performance. The girls were performing in front of hundreds of fans at a Lotte event, when Krystal had a hard time looking straight and kept doubling over. Eventually, she lost consciousness and fainted right in the middle of the song. The performance was immediately stopped and the staff had aided her off the stage.
