Netflix is currently considering the production of a new original series directed by Yeon SangHo, titled “The Gray”. Previously it was reported that actors Koo KyoHwan, Jeon SoNee, and Lee JungHyun have been offered the leading roles and all three are positively reviewing the same. According to an exclusive report by JTBC News, “The Gray” is said to be based on the popular Japanese anime “Parasyte: The Maxim” and its source material, the original manga “Parasyte” by Hitoshi Iwaaki. “Parasyte” is known for its novel storyline, exciting development, and mastery of science-fiction horror. It has two Japanese live-action adaptations and has also received two tributes and one spin-off. The story revolves around Shinichi Izumi whose right hand is possessed by a sentient alien parasite named Migi. As it turns out, this alien invasion also affected other humans but in their case, the parasitic worms crawled up to their brains, taking full control of their consciousness, and compelling them to feed on their kind. As Shinichi Izumi is able to retain his intellect and identity (and Migi is unlike other man-eating parasites), they’re often engaged in combat with other parasites who attack them. Yeon SangHo is no stranger to creature horror so it will be interesting to see how such an amazing work will be adapted into a K-Drama under his excellent direction. Are you excited for “The Gray”?
