The drama is based on the novel “Minamdang: Case Note” by Jung JaeHan. The story is about Nam HanJun (Seo InGuk), a well known Shaman, known for his extraordinary skills and as the ‘rebel of the shaman world’. But the truth is that he is far away from being a shaman. HanJun is a former criminal profiler who now scams people into believing that he is a shaman. With the help of his team, Nam HyeJun (Kang MiNa) and Gong SuCheol (Kwak SiYang), he solves his client’s case. The lead cast of the drama include: Seo InGuk, Oh YeonSeo, Kwak SiYang and Kang MiNa. The drama is a full package of entertainment as it delivers mystery, action, a splash of comedy and blinding visuals to keep you hooked on it! Here is why you must tune in to “Cafe Minamdang” now! The article contains spoilers.
1. “Café Minamdang” Introduces Seo InGuk As A Sharp Yet Eccentric Nam HanJun
Seo InGuk proves himself to be one of the most versatile actors with Nam HanJun. HanJun is introduced as a sharp and charismatic shaman. Whilst the viewer is awe at his intelligence, we are also holding our stomachs at his comic behavior. HanJun is a former criminal profiler who got tangled in a case which cost him his job. He then takes a completely different route, scamming people into thinking he was a shaman as he solved their problems. His self confidence is also extremely admirable, he knows very well about his fatal sexiness and is not ashamed to admit it. Seo InGuk swiftly displays the different sides of HanJun, be it a professional quiz solver, an over protective and bickering brother, a charismatic shaman or a soft hearted man gushing over a badass woman. As a shaman, his manner shifts with his voice sounding high and heavy. There are also moments where HanJun’s soft side is shown like the way he turns on all the lights upon hearing Han JaeHee (Oh YeonSeo) complain about the darkness. And moments where HanJun was too adorable for one’s own good.
2. Oh YeonSeo Leaves The Viewer’s Jaw Dropped With Her Cool Action And Cold Aura
The K-Drama world gave us yet another strong female lead in 2022. Oh YeonSeo appears as Han JaeHee, a devoted cop who was even given the name ‘The Ghost of Yongjin Police Station’ because of her fighting skills and devotion. Han JaeHee is a quiet one, with a cold yet cool outlook, supported by a long black leather jacket. In episode 1, she is appointed as a team leader, though she is mistaken as a rookie. She is told to stay put but she still joins the other detectives in catching the criminal. The detectives are surprised by her speed and combat skills, and they are not the only ones! Han JaeHee has already gathered a separate fan club for herself.
3. “Café Minamdang”’s Squad Gives Us Partners In Crime Goals
“Café Minamdang” brings us yet another admirable trio. Whilst HanJun is the face of the group, he pretends to be the shaman, whilst he is also extremely clever, so solving cases is not a big deal to him. On the other hand, HyeJun was a part of the National Intelligence Services as a hacker. She was responsible for getting all the information and anything with hacking involving. Then we have Gong SuCheol, is a former violent crime detective and now a barista in Cafe Minamdang. The three are usually seen bickering, like HyeJun and SuCheol fighting over the bone whilst HanJun is whining about the mess they made. And also the one to put an end to the fight, yet he proceeded to scold HyeJun for being late. The trio is absolutely chaotic and that is what makes us love them even more! Yet when it comes to work, they infuse their own individual skills and succeed in solving the case with ease. “Café Minamdang” is the right balance of mystery and comedy and even though there are only two episodes released, viewers are already in love with it!
