There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Sheryline from Belgium is the next fan to answer our questions. She is a fan of MONSTA X (OT7) and more particularly of WonHo too! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? I am Sheryline and I am a MonWenee (Monbebe-Wenee) from Belgium. I consider myself as a MonWenee since I am a fan of WonHo and MONSTA X (they will always be seven in my heart). How and when did you enter the fandom? I am a WENEE since 29 June 2020, the day WonHo announced the name of the fandom. But he’s been my bias since 2018 when I became a MONSTA X fan and entered the MONBEBE fandom. Since then I have continued to follow and support him, even during difficult times and I am still a big fan of both. What are the reasons why you love your favorite artist? For his multi-talents and his music, but also for his way of being this caring and humble person. His way of loving his fans unconditionally and trying to always be a better way of himself. He not only seems nice and caring, everyone who has the opportunity to interview him during the comeback says he really is and has no shortage of praise for him. He is a very inspiring person and I am proud to support him. Which song by them caught your attention at first and why? For MONSTA X, it’s ‘Dramarama’ I was immediately hooked by the story of the MV and I’m sad there was never a sequel. And for WonHo of course it was ‘Losing You’! This song always touches me deep in my soul. It was at first hard to listen (especially for those who went through the hell of his departure), because this song contains all of WonHo’s love and appreciation to his fans. Now it’s a little easier to listen to it, and with a little hindsight, we can really feel all the intensity of this song. Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans? For MONSTA X, I would say ‘Dramarama’ (Title Track), both the song and the MV are amazing. And ‘Lost in the dream’ (B-side), that’s my favorite song of MX! You need to listen to it to understand, and the solo part of KiHyun in it has been my ringtone since I heard it haha. For WonHo: ‘Open Mind’ (Title Track), the song of his first album, his real first comeback as a soloist, a pleasure for the ears and the eyes. And ‘Devil’ (B-Side), no other words than “perfect”. Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your favourite artist to our readers? You absolutely have to watch the cover of WonHo of ‘i love you ’ by Billie Eilish and the Fancam of WonHo at MCountdown for ‘Play It Cool’ published by M2. Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics? “You held me like a hero When I was unknown, tired and collapsing, flash You were warm, flash Will I ever find you again? I miss you” Wonho - ‘Flash’ (“Love Synonym Pt.2 : Right For Us”) Are there any quotes by your favourite artist that you would like to share? “If you want me to be HoSeok, I’ll be HoSeok. If you want me to be WonHo, I’ll be WonHo. Whenever you need… I’ll be your family, your friend, your boyfriend, your girlfriend, I’ll be everything. I’ll always be your strong supporter.” WonHo Vlive : “Hello 2022” from 31 december 2021. “Let the haters bark!” MONSTA X’s I.M. What kind of influence has your favourite artist had on your daily life? I don’t know if it’s really influence, but he brings me a lot of happiness because thanks to him I met people who are now very dear friends. What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying? Share everything with my best friend! Watch performance, go to concert, talk about the new songs or put the music on loud in the car during our long journeys, that’s really the best thing! What is a random fact that you think people don’t know about them? WonHo designed his own lighstick and that of MONSTA X when he was in the band. He also often makes his own outfits and does not worry about the “gender” that certain clothes could have. For you, what is your bias’ best stage outfits until now? Please share a picture or fan cam. It’s really hard to choose haha! I would say ‘Alligator’ outfit, but he is awesome in every outfit! If you go to only one, would you go to a concert, fan meeting, or fan sign? I would like to go to a fansign. I think chatting with your idol, being able to tell him how talented he is and how much we appreciate him, but also seeing him face to face is an incredible experience. What is your first comment on a live broadcast of your favorite idol? “Thank you for coming back!” If you can spend a day with your bias, where will you go and what will you do? I will go to an amusement park. I love amusement parks and I think it’s a place where you can have fun while finding a little bit of a child’s soul. We’ll go and make the most of this day. If you could write a book about your bias, what would the first and last lines be? First line: “In the next paragraphs you will meet one of the most extraordinary men on earth.” Last line: “So you’re in love now, right?”. If you have a chance to cook for the group, what will you cook for them? I would cook different Belgian dishes for him to taste and discover the cuisine of my country. Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite artist from other fans (non-fans)? Other people who are not WonHo fans think he is haughty and only knows how to be sexy and do just that! They also think WonHo that he takes steroids! It’s all fake! Despite his physique and his muscles, he is the sweetest man I know. He loves doing cute/sweet songs like ‘Blue’, ‘White Miracle’, etc. And as for his muscles, he worked really hard and it makes me sad that people are criticizing him for that and that they form an image of him based on his physique.
